Let me just start by saying Cate Blanchett is a treasure and we are lucky to have her. Is that a bit of an overstatement? Maybe, but I sure as hell stand behind it.

With that out of the way, Where’d You Go, Bernadette is one of my favorite movies of the year. It may not be a great movie from an objective point of view (it’s rather simple, but quite enjoyable, as many of the professional movie critics have said), but it really resonated with me. It’s about a woman that used to be considered one of the greatest architects in history, but after a series of events, she retired from the industry, retreated herself and became a stay-at-home mother, developing a severe case of social anxiety in the process. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when her daughter asks for a family trip to Antarctica.

This may all have sound a little dramatic and suspenseful, but the movie is super light about it. I actually think this is more of a warm, light hearted, family-comedy movie than anything else.

If you can’t find it anywhere else, you can try and catch Bernadette on Popcorn Time.
